Using Advanced Search to Filter Personal Expenses

As you continue to submit expenses in Abacus over time, using Advanced Search in Abacus from your web browser will help you easily locate any specific expenses you need to find. 

You can view, search, and filter out-of-pocket expenses that you've submitted for reimbursement on the Reimbursable Expenses page. You can also use saved filters to create reports that you can return back to on the Reimbursable Expenses pages in Abacus.

One of the most common instances in which you might need to filter to locate an expense would be if your administrator has returned an expense you've submitted, and you need to edit and resubmit it. In the example below, we'll use the Advanced Search feature to locate a specific denied expense, rather than scrolling through pages of expenses to find it. 

Filtering on the Reimbursable Expenses Page

To see expenses that you've submitted for reimbursement in Abacus, click Reimbursable Expenses in your Personal sidebar.

The expenses are divided into these tabs:

• Pending Review: Reimbursable expenses that are awaiting review and approval
• Approved: Reimbursable expenses that have been approved and paid out through ACH
• Completed: Reimbursable expenses that have been denied, returned, or approved and are awaiting payment

You can use the filters at the top of each tab to focus in on a specific subset of expenses. To apply advanced filters:

1. Click Advanced Filters at the top of the page.

2. Choose which filters to apply from the list.

3. Click Apply Filters.

You can click Export All to export your transaction details as a CSV. You can also use saved filters to create reports that you can return back to on Reimbursable Expenses page in Abacus.

Using Advanced Filters to Locate a Denied Expense

To locate an expense that you submitted and was returned by an admin:

1. Click Reimbursable Expenses in your Personal sidebar.

2. Click the Completed tab.

3. Click Advanced Filters.

2. Click the State dropdown and select Denied and Resubmittable.

3. Click Apply Filters.
